tofu with strange flavour sauce
Serves 2-4 as a side dish
2 tbsp crunchy peanut butter or tahini
2 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp black vinegar
2 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp caster sugar
1 tsp chilli flakes
1/2 tsp Szechuan peppercorns, crushed
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 tsp minced ginger
Cold silken tofu
1/4 cup unsalted peanuts, to serve
Place all ingredients, minus tofu and extra peanuts, in a small mixing bowl and stir until combined.
Place tofu in a serving bowl. Spoon over sauce and serve with extra peanuts.
Note: this sauce also works beautifully with shredded chicken.
